“Two Get Movin” Action Team Meeting Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007

Overview
The overall goals of the “Two Get Movin” campaign are to encourage your employees to increase physical activity and incorporate healthy nutrition in their daily lives, and we hope they have fun doing it.
Given the fast pace nature of life today, these goals may sound a little daunting. But the fact is, we can’t afford not to address proper nutrition and physical activity in our daily lives. Given that physical inactivity and poor diet lead to 300,000 deaths each year, and that people who are overweight or obese increase their risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis related disabilities, and a number of cancers, the importance of addressing physical activity and nutrition can’t be overstated.
You’re probably thinking, with more than 60% of employees overweight or obese – “getting my employees to exercise more and eat properly would take a miracle.” While it’s not an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination, it’s probably easier than you think. The “Two Get Movin” Steering Committee has come up with an internal model to help you coordinate this effort. The Steering Committee will provide resources to you and ideas to help keep your people involved in the “Two Get Movin” campaign. In addition, other employer groups throughout Two Harbors will also be participating in the “Two Get Movin” activities over the next six months and this external competition may also help motive your employees.
Congratulations on your decision to get employees exercising and eating better. Considering the annual cost of obesity in our Country, you’re heading in the right direction toward reducing employee healthcare costs. So Let’s Get Movin…….
“Two Get Movin" Process
Goals:
- At least 3 people on a team. If a business has less than 3 people in their business, they will be combined with another business to complete a team.
- Strive to have 30% employee participation.
- Encourage additional employee and business participation throughout the campaign.
Process
I. Starting Up
- Sign up participants and encourage them to form a team of a minimum of 3 people.
- Encourage teams to give themselves a name.
- Encourage teams to designate a team captain (that person may change monthly)
- Hand out activity log sheets to participants
- Get People Movin….
- Participants should log their daily activity and points on the activity log sheets.
- Participants to hand in activity log sheet to designated team captain on a weekly basis.
- Team captain to collate all team activity sheets for the month and hand into Employer Coordinator.
- Reporting
- Employer Coordinator records each teams average monthly points
- Employer Coordinator recognizes the team with the highest monthly average points as the Company’s “Movin Team of the Month”.
- Employer Coordinator meets with other coordinators the first Wednesday of the following month to report their businesses results i.e. the team with the highest monthly average points.
- Recognition and Educational Materials
- Steering Committee will coordinate recognition of “Movin Employer of the Month”, which will be announced in the Chronicle the second week of the month.
- Employer Coordinator with receives educational materials at these monthly meets to help encourage employee participation.
